Welcome to City of DuPont
DuPont a former company town for a DuPont dynamite plant, the town which bears the company name lies off Interstate 5 between Tacoma and Olympia and borders Ft. Lewis US Army Base
American Indians lived here as early as 5,000 years ago, and the area was first seen by outsiders in 1792 when British Captain George Vancouver and a party of explorers cruised down the body of water he named Puget Sound.
The area attracted the first non-native settlement in the Puget Sound region, Fort Nisqually, a Hudson's Bay Company trading post built in 1833.
In 1869, the U.S. Government bought the site and opened it for settlement. The DuPont company bought 3200 acres for a dynamite manufacturing plant and company town. The building that houses the DuPont Historical Museum was a butcher shop and later the city hall.
DuPont is part of the Pierce County-Tacoma, WA metro area

|
| There is an ongoing effort to re-brand DuPont, WA. NW Landing / Quadrant had many opportunities to bring interesting commercial ventures and build a city around of it. But they opted not to do so due to increase profits. They failed to build a properly planned city. Now everyone is looking for a solution for the problems they created like looking for a candle in a blackout. |

| We are quite sure he is busy showing his resume to others after leaving a disaster in DuPont. During his tenure, he left his position unattended. It was very clear that he was more interested shining his resume for his own future than serving. |

This article will clearly explain why everyone has been mum on the grocery. This Seattle Times article will clearly explain it to you. This
IGA is the same one is trying to build one in DuPont or Mr. Mike Rabstoff says so. Grocery was a big fat lie to pass their rezoning which they did. I hope DuPont residents will wake up soon to smell the air.
No further comment. Please read the article yourself.
(First of all, we like to disclaim that a small business failure is not something nice to see. Unfortunate to see how big box stores have been smashing the small businesses with strong purchasing powers.) |
